Four Kurdish Political Parties reject result of manual recount

Four Kurdish political parties(the Change Movement (Gorran), the Coalition for Democracy and Justice (CDJ), Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) and the Islamic League (Komal)) met on Saturday (August 11) at Gorran’s headquarters in Zargata, Sulaimani and said that they have jointly rejected the results announced by IHEC after the manual recount of votes for Iraq’s May 12 election.
Following their meeting, the four opposition parties issued a statement saying that they reiterate their position towards the results.
The written statement said “this recount process was designed to conceal the huge fraud. Once again, we reject the results and will take the necessary legal and political proceedings to return confidence for the political process and to preserve the votes of our voters.”
They also called for “serious action to be taken for a clear and fare election in the Kurdistan Region that can assure the public and political parties.”
They further said that clear voter registration and reforms in the commission rules and proceedings are required.
