Gorran MP calls on int’l community to put pressure on Iran to halt the death sentence against Ramin Hossein Panahi


Member of the Change Movement  (Gorran) bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, ,Hoshyar Abdullah called on  the United Nations and international human rights organizations to put  pressure on  the Iranian authorities to halt the death sentence against Iranian Kurdish prisoner,  Ramin Hossein Panahi amid reports he will be executed on Thursday. 
He said in a statement  that "the young Kurdish Ramin Hussein Banahi detained in an Iranian prison, there are reports that he was transferred to solitary cell in preparation for the execution," adding that "there are other detainees from the same family  in prison."

"The issue of humanitarian dimensions requires urgent intervention to save the prisoner from death," he said. "The United Nations, international human rights organizations and all governments of the region must intervene to make the Iranian side completely halt the death penalty." he added.
 
Mr. Panahi was arrested in June last year for alleged membership of the Kurdish nationalist group Komala, and was held in solitary confinement until January. His family received no information about his fate or whereabouts for four months after his arrest. He was convicted for taking up arms against the State and sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court in January 2018.
